Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recalled plastic rain ponchos were sold in yellow or blue and have a drawstring in the hood. Japanese lettering is printed on the packaging.
Sold by: Daiso retail stores located in California and Washington states from February 2007 through November 2007 for $1.50.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the rain ponchos to eliminate the hazard.
