Name of Product: 21 Pro USA Children’s Pullovers and Hoodies

Units: About 7,200

Distributor: New Mode Sportswear, of Garden Grove, Calif.

Hazard: The children’s sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) (which were incorporated into an industry voluntary standard in 1997) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves children’s hooded pullover and zip hooded sweatshirts in sizes S-XL. They were sold in black, navy blue and heather gray. Brand name “21 Pro USA” Sportswear and RN#92952 are printed on a label sewn into the neck of the sweatshirts.

Sold at: Various T-shirt outlets and swap meets on the West Coast from January 2006 through July 2006 for about $6.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard or return the garments to the place of purchase or to New Mode Sportswear for a full refund.

Name of Product: Taggies™ Sleep’n Play Infant Garments

Units: About 16,000 (an additional 6,200 were recalled on July 1, 2008)

Hazard: The snaps on these garments can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Description: The July 2008 recall involved two Taggies™ Sleep ‘n Play style infant garments: the Butterfly Applique’ and the Fun Dog Print. Subsequent to the recall, two additional Taggies Sleep ‘n Play styles, manufactured before July 1, 2008, were identified as also having snap issues. The recall has now been expanded to involve the Dinosaur Applique’ and the Pink Toss Print styles. The infant garments are one piece footed coveralls with snaps down the front. These garments were sold in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months. RN #27829 is printed on the care label sewn into the garment. Style numbers are printed on the hangtag of the garments. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of a flower separating. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled girls’ sandals are leather with attached leather flowers and were sold under the Kids Feet name. The sandals are white or white with pink soles. The sandals were sold in girls’ sizes 5 through 12.

Sold at: Rack Room Shoes stores nationwide from February 2008 through June 2008 for about $25.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled sandals away from children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or store credit.

Sold at: “Shirt off My Back” retail stores located in Colorado, Wyoming, and Michigan from September 2005 through May 2008 for between $20 and $30.

Item number 13926 HIBI is printed on the care label inside the back of the waistband. The skirts were sold in girls sizes 12 months to 4T. The skirts have six grommets, four on the front of the waistband and two on the back pocket.
