BCS International Corp. Issues Allergy Alert for Dr. Snack Choco Raisin With Sell By Date 03/05/2012
BCS Int’l Corp. of Long Island City, NY is voluntarily recalling DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. containers with “Sell By 03/05/2012” date code only because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. containers, with “Sell By 03/05/2012” date code were distributed to retail stores in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
DR. SNACK brand CHOCO RAISIN, 12 OZ. with “Sell By 03/05/2012” date code are packaged in clear, hard plastic (clam-shell) containers and bear UPC # 80555493026.
No other Dr. Snack products are involved in this recall.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.
Retail stores are being notified of the recall and urged to immediately remove the affected product from the retail shelves.
